Fundraising

Sunfield is a registered charity which operates on a ‘not for profit’ basis. Fees are charged to various local authorities from across the UK in regard to each individual child that they place at Sunfield. However, these fees only cover the direct costs of the education and care services that we provide for that particular child, with a small percentage built in for management and overheads.

Sunfield therefore has to rely on charitable donations to fund the development and improvement of its facilities and for the purchase of specialised items of equipment and vehicles, or any developmental work or research that it needs to undertake.

We have an ongoing programme of improvements
that require charitable support and examples of previous projects include:

  • New school buildings
  • New residential houses for the children
  • Extensions and alterations to existing houses
  • Initial set up and staffing costs for our Family Services and Family Centres
  • The provision of educational computers and networks in all classrooms and houses
  • The establishment of various sensory resources and therapy rooms
  • New minibuses and vehicles
  • Playground areas
  • Research projects etc.

The main focus of the Fundraising Department is to develop Fundraising Appeals and to secure major income from charitable trusts, companies, individuals etc. in support of Sunfield’s capital, developmental and research requirements. This department also handles any matters regarding legacies or other major donations. All donations and gift aid forms should be sent to this department.
