In November 2014, Ofsted undertook a full inspection of Sunfield and we are pleased to announce that we have been judged as providing a good service for children.
The report contains many complimentary passages and quotes, recognising the sensitivity, skills, hard work and commitment of all our staff. It also recognises the improvements we have made over the last year or so.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all staff for their on-going commitment to improving the quality of care, for all our children and we are currently preparing for the introduction of new national Quality Care Standards, which come into force from April 2015
In the meantime, here are a few encouraging comments from November’s report:
“Young people are able to make progress while being at the home. This is due to well trained and experienced staff having an exceptional high awareness of the differing needs of the young people and how to respond to these. One social worker stated that ‘the progress he has made is remarkable’.”
‘Staff are truly committed to the young people, understand each of their individual needs, show patience, respect their dignity and use their training to deal effectively with their challenging behaviour.’”
“Young people are protected by robust and effectively implemented safeguarding arrangements. Their well-being is promoted at all times because safeguarding is at the heart of the service.”
“Young people experience high quality nurturing, warm and positive relationships with staff. This in turn creates effective routines and boundaries, and these are well established.”
