Having enjoyed and completed The Black Country Run in 2014, Phil decided to step up the challenge for 2015, by running 500 miles in the lead up to and with the final miles being ran during The Black Country Run 2015.
Over the last two summers, Phil and his family have already raised over £700 for the children and young people at Sunfield and now Phil has set himself a further exhausting challenge using a gym rowing machine.
The challenge is already underway and will see Phil complete a 1 million metre row over 250 days, ending on 18th June 2016.
Phil said, “I have now decided to really step outside of my comfort zone and undertake a rowing challenge for my chosen charity. For me the rowing machine is a piece of gym equipment that I simply do not use (or at least haven’t used for the best part of 7-8 years).”
All funds raised during this challenge will go towards Sunfield’s Enhanced Learning & Therapy Support Fund. Enabling Sunfield to purchase items of equipment and fund educational activities that enhance the lives of the students. Items such as musical instruments, sensory resources such as bubble tubes and light machines, sporting and computer equipment as well as enhancing activities such as horse-riding.
Georgina Forrest, Sunfield’s Partnership Development Manager said, “It’s truly amazing when we get the support of local people like Phil, his family and via his company Swinford Graphics. By setting himself a tough challenge over a period of months Phil will certainly help raise awareness of the important work that we do at Sunfield, in supporting boys and girls, aged 6-19 with complex needs. We wish Phil every success in his challenge.”
