Last month, colleagues Callum Haynes and James Gwilliams from a local solicitors firm completed The Aberdovey Bike Ride, cycling from Wolverhampton to Aberdovey.
Callum, Associate and Head of Client Relations and James, Director at Talbots Law, both took on the challenge in memory of their late colleague and friend Martyn Morgan. Martyn sadly passed away in December 2015 and was a keen cyclist and charity fund raiser.
The annual bike ride took place on the 24th June and saw the pair cover 105 miles in one day, alongside 650 other keen cyclists all raising funds for local charities.
James, said, “The ride was a real challenge, however arriving at the Aberdovey Coastline feels a real achievement and makes it all worthwhile. Martyn Morgan headed a Talbots team to Aberdovey in 2012, therefore the event was close to his heart.”
In a joint effort, Callum and James have raised over £800 in sponsorship for the children and young people with complex needs at Sunfield, a residential special school based in Clent.
Georgina Forrest, Sunfield’s Partnership Development Manager, said, “Callum and James did fantastically well and have helped to make a real difference. They were part of a team of 30, challenging themselves for our boys and girls and we’d like to thank them all for every mile pedaled. Collectively they’ve raised over £6,000 towards equipment such as sensory resources and communication aids for our students.”
