Sunfield school entered a team of 50 participants into The Black Country Run on Sunday 21st September.
Organised by Halesowen and Rowley Regis Rotary Club, the event included a 5k family fun run and a 10k race around Halesowen Town Centre.
Sunfield who support children and young people aged 6 – 19 with a variety of complex needs including autism, more than doubled their team in size from 19 last year.
Students and staff members of the school were joined by Sunfield’s Community Fundraising Group, local business and community supporters including Swinford Graphics, Alford Insurance and Barclays as well as 1st Pedmore Brownies, with the overall team being sponsored by Robinson & Sproson Opticians of Hagley.
A special thank you also goes to Sainsbury’s of Amblecote who donated refreshments for Team Sunfield on the day.
Sunfield sponsorship this year will be used to fund items of equipment that will ‘enhance’ the quality of life and education for the children including items such as musical instruments, computer equipment and sensory resources.
Georgina Forrest, Sunfield Partnership Development Manager said; “With a sea of yellow t-shirts and smiles on everyone’s faces both the run and walk events were a real success. Our students are still wearing their medals with pride and we’d like to thank all of our team supporters and Halesowen and Rowley Regis Rotary Club for a wonderful day.”
