News Articles | Ukulele Group Celebrate Fundraising Year

BUGS charity of the year 2014-15 2A local ukulele musical group from Blackheath, known as ‘BUGS’, have presented Sunfield with a final donation to mark the end of their charity of the year (2014-15) efforts for the school.

As well as supporting with donations, the group performed various Christmas themed songs at the school’s Winter Open Day where they also presented the music therapy department with three new ukuleles.

The group has raised a total of £500 which will be allocated to the enhanced learning and therapy support fund, enabling the purchase of new items such as musical instruments and sensory resources all to enhance the lives of the students living and leaning at Sunfield.

Georgina Forrest, Sunfield’s Partnership Development Manager said, ‘Our students really benefit from music therapy sessions where they can vocalise, sing and play instruments offering an opportunity to express themselves which helps to meet their communication needs. We can’t thank BUGS enough for their year of support meaning that we can continue to support children and young people with complex needs.’
