Local man cleans up for Sunfield's Sunshine Week appeal
Stourport based, Rathbone Cleaning, is cleaning up for Sunfield, as all commissions during the week commencing 22nd June, for the cleaning of carpets, upholstery or leather, will carry a 25% donation to the special school’s Sunshine Week appeal.

Owner, Peter Rathbone says:
“When I heard about Sunfield’s Sunshine Week appeal I really wanted to do something useful to help. I am always out and about in the region, from as far afield as Wolverhampton, Redditch, Malvern and Cheltenham and I thought that this would be a great way of generating some funds for the appeal, as well as spreading the word about Sunfield.
“The children at the school have a range of profound and complex learning difficulties, which mean they cannot be educated in mainstream schools. Most of the children are residents at Sunfield as they need specialist 24 hour care.
“When I heard that they were in the process of building new school facilities for the children, at a cost of £3.5 million, and that none of this is funded by the Government but has to be met through fundraising, I really wanted to support them.
“Rathbone Cleaning is a small family business which has been operating for the last six years, cleaning all types of carpets, rugs, upholstery and leather furniture. We have built our reputation on an honest and reliable service and much of our new business comes through word-of-mouth. Every penny of the 25% discount will go to the Sunshine Week appeal. I will be asking my customers during that week to write two separate cheques – one to Rathbone Cleaning for 75% of the total bill, and one to Sunfield for the remaining 25%. That way the customers will be assured that this is a genuine charity offer.”
Ian Jones, director of Appeals at Sunfield, commented:
“Our Sunshine Week appeal aims to raise £10,000 towards the £250,000 total cost of the fit out and furnishing of our new educational centre, which will offer our children the very best environment in which to reach their full potential.
“We are always very grateful when members of the local community offer to support our appeal and Peter Rathbone has come up with a really innovative and generous way of helping us. Without support like this the new school would not have been possible.”
