Working with Social Services and other agencies
- Our core team is drawn from Education, Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy and Social Care, but we can also draw upon Sunfield professionals with additional expertise, e.g. Occupational Therapy, Sunfield’s Health Team
- We provide support for children and young people who present challenges as a result of their Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- We work in a cross-curricular manner, consistently addressing the ultimate need to maximise a young person’s independence skills
- We work in both mainstream and special schools and colleges, and often take the skills learned in the educational setting out into real-life community settings
- We can support children and young people who have been excluded from school
- We support transitions into, between and within residential settings
- We can work alongside care staff, family members and other carers, to demonstrate ASD-specific approaches
- We can assess the environment to advise families, carers and staff on how to structure their living areas to cater for the needs of the young person with ASD
- We provide intensive support, and withdraw at an agreed rate to ensure sustainability of the programme
- We can provide longer-term support focusing on agreed targets and goals
- We provide written reports to support consistency of practice
- We offer training for other agencies working with an individual child or young person
- We work in residential settings and children’s homes, supporting young people across the transition from the educational to the care setting
