Working with the brothers and sisters of our students is of great importance to us here at Sunfield. Our belief is that if we involve siblings now, they will be better informed and have a broader understanding of the overall needs of their siblings as they progress together into adulthood.
As part of our work with families, we arrange activities specifically for the brothers and sisters. These events are separate from the family days, such as open days and the carnival etc. We offer activity days/weekends to siblings in specific age brackets in order to plan activities suitable to the age group. The activities are both Sunfield based such as horse riding, sensory room etc., and community based such as activity centres, bowling etc. The aim is to give siblings an opportunity to meet and have fun together, to hopefully build friendships and keep in touch with each other. It also keeps siblings in touch with Sunfield and hopefully encourages them to feel a part of Sunfield and their brother's/sister's life here at the school.
