I'm delighted to welcome you to the website for Sunfield - a very special place situated in the heart of the UK which is dedicated to the care and education of children with severe and complex learning needs.

We know that we are a special place because our children, their families and our many visitors tell us so!  You can read some of their messages on our testimonials page.  Our individually devised care and education programmes aim to develop each child's abilities so that their lives may be as fulfilled and independent as possible, and we are immensely proud of the reputation we have gained for our pioneering teaching methods which have been praised by both Ofsted and the Social Services Inspectorate. 

Sunfield's residential services are UK based but our work and experience in the field of special care, and in particular with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, have spread the name and reputation of Sunfield globally.  As a consequence, we are delighted to have links with professional organisations and individuals in many countries around the world.

Whilst residential places at Sunfield are limited, we are able to put our knowledge and experience to much wider use - through our Professional Development Centre, lecture tours, publications and outreach service - to have a far reaching impact on the lives of children with profound ASD not just nationally but internationally.

Sunfield is a charity and, as such, operates on a not for profit basis. Although the basic costs of providing education and care for the children are funded by the local authorities who place children at Sunfield, we rely on fundraising for all other costs such as new or improved accommodation, facilities and services, or the purchase of specialist equipment and vehicles. Please read about our current projects and fundraising targets.  We are always grateful for donations, sponsorship or offers of help.
