Care

Nurturing trust, calm and confidence, by caring for children’s individual needs and supporting their opportunities.

Homely houses

Every family home, and every family member, is completely unique, and it is with this in mind that Sunfield approaches care, and the creation of a ‘home-from-home’ for young people. Set within Sunfield’s 58 acres of idyllic parkland, we have 6 self-contained residential houses with their own gardens, direct-dial telephone, internet access and dedicated 24/7 care team. Our homes also have a sensory room. Each young perosn will have their own bedroom, personalised to their needs and preferences – to support their transition and provide the best possible start to their time at Sunfield.

Constant companions

Every relationship is important to us and we work closely with all families and local authorities. Each home at Sunfield has a dedicated highly trained team of care staff, who provide round-the-clock hands-on care and support to the individual young person, with staff ratios determined to the individual’s needs rather than minimum requirements. We can’t replace family, and we don’t try to, but we can make sure your child feels safe, secure and happy – day and night.

Family friendly

We aim to reassure parents too – so we’ll keep in touch with you, and help you to keep in touch with your child, with personalised communication plans. Being away from your child is particularly difficult when they’re unwell but, rest assured, we are able to care for many illnesses, ranging from a common cold to some potentially life-limiting conditions. If you’d like to be with your child when they’re poorly, you can stay here with them in our Family Centre, or they can come home to recuperate with you – whatever works best for your family. You can find out more about our Health Care offering here.

Food for thought

The homeliness doesn’t end in the homes. Sunfield’s food is home-cooked in our on-site kitchens and, on occasion, home-grown in our walled garden. Your child will enjoy balanced meals, tailored to their dietary, personal and cultural needs.

Life experiences

Our care staff will actively help and encourage your child to enjoy on-site and off-site activities that provide stimulation, exercise, life experience and, most importantly, fun. We have a fleet of vehicles, so your child will also have opportunity to access community-based leisure facilities such as shopping, cinema, bowling and swimming. We will also ensure that your child’s birthday is celebrated, along with other special and religious occasions during the year. In short, the Care team at Sunfield will do everything to help your child to get the most out of their day, and to sleep soundly at night.
