Sunfield’s Psychology team are involved in ongoing assessment and intervention work with all of the students at Sunfield, to maximise their emotional well-being. Their work is informed by discussions with parents and staff, as well as data from organisational systems, observations and previous reports.
Throughout your child’s time at Sunfield, the team will facilitate meetings within the multidisciplinary team around your child, to gain a wider range of perspectives to inform their thinking. This deeper shared understanding of your child will help the teams to identify the source of any difficulties, then work together, and with you, to plan a concerted approach.
In addition to these discussions, the Psychology team also uses a range of specialist assessment tools to identify any psychological needs. They can then determine an evidence-based approach that will work across the entire organisation, to best support your child in their learning and living.
By constantly working together on-site, with a flexible child-centred approach, the team can regularly adapt and update your child’s individual support plan and, where appropriate, implement specialist interventions. The overall aim is to give your child the very best opportunity to develop independence and improve their quality of life.
To further support staff in their work with the young people at Sunfield, the Psychology team provide training, to increase staff’s working knowledge of psychological and emotional issues. This is based on a detailed and multi-layered understanding of children’s individual difficulties, reflecting Sunfield’s bespoke approach and an ethos of sharing expertise to support best practice.
