Land Worker

Sunfield Children’s Home – Clent, Stourbridge, DY9 9PB

Starting from £16,350.00 if you are aged 25 and over

You may be eligible for a higher salary grade if you have already completed your training in Biodynamic agriculture.

Hours – 40 hours per week (to be worked flexibly depending on the season)

 

Sunfield School and Children’s Home, part of the Ruskin Mill Trust Group, is located in the stunning Clent Hills. Sunfield provides innovative and experiential education for children and young people with Autistic spectrum Conditions and special learning needs, developed out of the inspiration of Rudolf Steiner, William Morris and John Ruskin.

Set within 58 acres of idyllic parkland, nestled on the slopes of the Clent Hills, we are an independent residential special school and charity who support young people, aged 6 – 19 years, with complex learning needs, including Autism and PDA.

This is an exciting time for the land team at Sunfield as they are in a process of re-visioning the land in order to deepen Biodynamic principles used on site, introduce livestock and develop more opportunities for Sunfield to create its own produce to be used in the School and the homes. This will in turn not only allow the young people at Sunfield more education opportunities but enrich their time here and cultivate a wider understanding of their world.

This is the perfect role for someone with landwork experience who, is not only keen to develop their skills and learn more at about agriculture through the practice of Biodyanamics, but can appreciate how their work can transform the education of lives of young people with special learning through their own experience with the land.

We invest heavily in our staff and your career with us includes an extensive training and development plan to enable you to fulfil your potential.  You will be fully trained in the following; CALM, Behaviour Watch, Safeguarding,Health & Safety training alongside Mental Health, Child Development & attachment and Emotional Resilience to name a few.

Although challenging, working at Sunfield is incredibly rewarding. We are looking for people with great character and a desire to make a positive impact on young people’s lives. As a minimum you should have;

  • Experience of working in a horticultural, agricultural or land-based role.
  • Experience of working in a similar physically demanding role.
  • A team player and demonstrate the ability to manage emotionally challenging situations
  • Emotional intelligence and resilience with the ability to react calmly in stressful situations
  • A willingness to complete training in Biodynamic agriculture if not already trained.

A comprehensive induction and on the job training with a clear development plan. All posts within Sunfield are subject to a 6 month probation period
